Academic Hoods

The hood or caputium began to be used as a separate item of dress from around 1200 onwards, with academic significance being attached to the use of a hood by around the fifteenth century. In modern times, many higher educational establishments use a plethora of different colours and styles of hood to denote the level of the individual’s academic achievement as well as their field of study. Our University Hoods are skilfully crafted using only the finest heavy-weight polyester fibre combined with a beautiful satin and can include a faux-fur, satin, or velvet, binding. They can be produced in any shape or style.
